Canadian independent wrestler Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson was a relatively well-known wrestler but ruined his reputation after a vicious stabbing incident a couple of years ago. Now it appears he has been hit with a lawsuit over the 2021 stabbing incident.
Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson repeatedly stabbed a referee named Lando Deltoro back in 2021, seriously injuring him. Due to this, The Miz said that Hannibal should be banned from wrestling.
The incident took place on December 11, 2021, at a World Class Revolution show in which he allegedly stabbed the referee with a spike. This legitimately busted him open more than intended. The referee was hospitalized as a result of the incident and eventually made a full recovery.
According to Dallas Morning News, Nicholson has been charged with a lawsuit from the referee he stabbed in December 2021.
“Fraga alleges the wrestler never should have been permitted to perform. Fraga accused the company of negligence and allowing a wrestler with a known propensity for violence to participate. Before the match, the suit says, others saw Nicholson carrying a beer and stumbling. Fraga also named Nicholson and Jerry Bostic, the company’s CEO, in the lawsuit, which seeks at least $250,000 for physical pain, mental anguish and lost wages.
According to the lawsuit, the script called for Fraga to cut himself with a razor as part of a planned stunt. Not pleased with the amount of blood, it says, Nicholson placed him in a chokehold and stabbed him multiple times in the head with a spike.
Fraga lost consciousness. With no medical staff on site, he said he was raced to the hospital, where he received seven scalp staples for lacerations. Fraga said he continues to suffer from headaches, memory problems and depression and has several scars.”
Following the incident, World Class Revolution’s Bostic publicly disavowed Nicholson and he hasn’t worked there since. Regardless, Nicholson committed a terrible act and he will have to bear the consequences.
