There is only one Queen in today’s generation of WWE, and her name is Charlotte Flair. The second-generation star accomplished a lot in her career. She also lost to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39 and now it appears that Flair admitted to a botched spot during the match.
Charlotte Flair defended her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 39 Saturday. There was a lot of anticipation for the match, as both competitors have proved their worth in the ring.
Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in what was an incredible match-up at WrestleMania 39. During one instance of the match, Flair took a German suplex and landed face first.
While speaking on The Michael Kay Show, Charlotte Flair talked about her WrestleMania 39 match with Rhea Ripley. Flair admitted that her landing face first from the German suplex was not planned.
Rhea (Ripley) and I this past WrestleMania, had a move in there where for a second I’m like, oh, there’s my face in the mat. Ow (she laughed). That wasn’t supposed to happen. So I was like, God, I hope she doesn’t move, I hope she doesn’t move. Let me get my breath for a second and if you go back, it was like one of the best moments of the match was the suplex to my face when it wasn’t supposed to be that and I’m like, had that not happened, we wouldn’t have gotten those replays so to me, I’m so happy I landed flat on my face. It made the match that much better, so I needed it to breathe and we got to eventually where we were going…
The match ended up becoming the highlight of WrestleMania 39 and is a testament to how good both competitors are inside the squared circle. While Rhea Ripley remains the WWE Women’s Champion after WrestleMania 39, Charlotte Flair has yet to win any title since her loss. We’ll have to see what will become of Flair in the coming weeks.
