WWE has several people in NXT who could be big-time breakout Superstars. It appears that they are setting Trick Williams up to do great things as well.
Trick Williams had to let Carmelo Hayes know that he’s not a sidekick anymore. He will always have Hayes’ back, but he had to go out and do his own thing in NXT. That being said, WWE could have big things in store for him.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how WWE booked Trick Williams to beat Bron Breakker at an NXT house show. This was a big deal for Trick to beat a former NXT Champion, and that’s apparently not all they have in store for him.
“He beat Bron Breakker at one of the house shows this weekend. I think it was Tampa, yeah, impromptu challenge and he beat him. Look, for what they want, Trick Williams has a great deal of potential. He’s a great talker, he has a look, the only thing is he’s not a great wrestler, but athlete, I think the hope is that in time, obviously, they’re not rushing him up, which is a good thing. If they brought him up right now, he’d be one of those guys who’d get a stigma of failure on him, so they’re not rushing him up.”
Trick Williams will face Ilja Dragunov at NXT Heatwave this week. Obviously, that will be a big match for Williams as he continues proving himself. Dragunov is also the kind of wrestler who can bring a great match out of any opponent.
Only time will tell what happens in this situation. Obviously, NXT has a big potential start on their hands with Trick Williams. We’ll just have to see if the stars align for his massive push.
What’s your take on Trick Williams’ push in NXT? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you think!
