John Cena is coming back to WWE, and the company was very happy to make a big deal about this during RAW this week. It seems that this short return stint for the 16x World Champion was sparked by an unfortunate turn of events in Hollywood.
John Cena will return to WWE for the September 1st edition of WWE SmackDown, scheduled to be held in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Furthermore. He will also be featured in WWE Superstar Spectacle on September 8th, at the G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium, in the Hyderabad suburb of Gachibowli, India.
John Cena’s return to WWE, for any length of time, is always exciting. Only time will tell if this results in Cena having a couple more matches this time around, but he also can’t risk his health. The pro wrestling ring can be a very unpredictable place, after all.
Ringside News reached out to ask about John Cena’s WWE return, and how long this has been planned. We were told by a tenured member of the team that, “Cena has been discussing a return since the SAG strike.”
Hollywood is at a standstill right now, as the SAG-AFTRA Strike of 2023 drags on. Hopefully, the unions and movie studios will come to an agreement soon, because this is a historic strike that could go to change the future of the entire entertainment industry. In the meantime, John Cena will use that opportunity to pay WWE a visit, and WWE also used this chance to drop new Cena merchandise.
This is interesting, because The Rock was actually cautioned not to make a WWE return during the strike. The fear is that it might send the wrong kind of message, after all, WWE is a non-unionized organization.
