The Sandman is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the history of ECW, who has shed buckets of blood for the promotion. He was also a major part of WWE’s version of ECW back from 2005 to 2007 but didn’t do much there after that. While other ECW legends made debuted in AEW, it appears The Sandman might not be debuting there anytime soon.
Sabu, another ECW legend, made his debut on AEW Dynamite a few months ago just before Double Or Nothing. Not only that, but RVD also debuted in AEW recently and even competed in a title match against Jack Perry.
While speaking during a K & S WrestleFest virtual signing, The Sandman was asked if he’d been in contact with anyone in AEW about a potential appearance. Sandman confirmed he hasn’t talked to anyone from AEW, adding that he is out of the pro wrestling business.
I’ve never talked to anybody in AEW, just so you know. Then again, I don’t even know if they’d have my phone number. I’m so far out of the business. It’s crazy.”
This might come as a disappointment for fans who wanted to see the pro wrestling veteran on AEW television. Regardless, The Sandman is enjoying his life outside pro wrestling and that’s all that matters.
