Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38 last year and wasted no time in making an impact after defeating Seth Rollins in his return match. Rhodes has certainly become a megastar in WWE now, but it appears Rhodes almost quit professional wrestling for acting in the past.
Cody Rhodes parted ways with WWE back in 2016 and he spent the next 6 years establishing himself as a main event level talent in various promotions, honing his craft everywhere. It is a known fact that Cody Rhodes was miserable during his first WWE run, especially when he became Stardust.
While speaking on Wrestle Binge, Cody Rhodes’ sister Teil revealed that Cody Rhodes almost quit pro wrestling to pursue an acting career.
“Yeah. He thought, ‘If I could leave, maybe I could get into TV. I could get into acting.’ But Cody, the business is really his life. He loves it so much, and that’s when he went on that incredible indie run where he made his list and, obviously, left WWE. Every step he took kind of brought us to where we are now.”
We will have to wait and see what WWE has planned for Cody Rhodes, as he defeated Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam. Perhaps a rematch with Roman Reigns will finally help him finish the story next year.
Do you believe Cody Rhodes’ foray into acting would have been as successful as his wrestling career?
