Charlotte Flair’s booking in WWE is always a sore subject for many fans, who are fed up with seeing her win titles all the time. That being said, Flair’s skills inside the squared circle are simply undeniable. Now it appears Flair admitted that trying to break her father’s world title record wasn’t her goal.
When John Cena tied Ric Flair’s record of 16 World Title reigns in 2017, many believed that John Cena was going to be the one who would end up breaking the record by having 17 World Title reigns recognized by WWE. That may no longer be the case anymore.
Currently, Charlotte Flair is a 14-time Women’s Champion and she requires three more title reigns to surpass her father. While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Charlotte Flair was asked about breaking the world title record.
I’m breaking the record. I’m so close. For so long, I stayed away from discussing it. But I’ve done every single thing there is to do, and this is my next goal. I want to keep getting better and see where I can take this character.
That wasn’t a goal, it just happened along the way. I’m betting on myself being the champion or challenger. Brock Lesnar is the only other person to do that.”
Ric Flair even claimed that he and John Cena congratulating Charlotte Flair on breaking their record would get a 2.3 rating as well. Now it remains to be seen whether The Queen will end up surpassing her father’s record in the future.
