Edge went out on top this week for SmackDown as he beat Sheamus after two spears in a row. The WWE Hall of Famer celebrated in a big way after the match, and he even told fans in Toronto that he will likely never wrestle in his home city again. AEW has signed plenty of stars after they were finished with WWE. The rumors of Edge making his way to AEW is a big one right now, especially considering how close he is with Dax Harwood. His old friend Christian might also help grease the wheels.
Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the WWE creative team that “the two sides did not come to terms.” Right now, the internal speculation is that Edge “ends up going to AEW.”
It was previously noted that the timing of the expiration of Edge’s contract will not work out for an All Out London appearance. That being said, it appears that the idea of Edge ending up in AEW is not dead in the water at all.
Tony Khan would pull a huge move if he is able to land Edge to a contract. Of course, he will probably be Adam Copeland if he debuts for AEW, because WWE owns the moniker he’s gone by for decades.
We will keep a very close eye on this ongoing story, right here at Ringside News. Right now, it seems that Edge’s status with WWE is very much up in the air. The biggest question is whether Edge would be able to move the needle in AEW, but it would certainly make an Edge and Christian reunion very possible.
