Cash Wheeler found himself in a legal matter that remained undisclosed until Friday. On that day, he voluntarily surrendered for arrest and faced his initial court hearing regarding a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. It seems that he was able to keep this secret for a while.
The situation in question took place on July 27th during a road rage incident in which the alleged victim claimed Wheeler brandished a firearm. A warrant for Wheeler’s arrest was issued the following day. He was subsequently released on a $2,500 bond and was required to relinquish all of his firearms to the authorities.
As previously reported, FTR is scheduled to appear on tonight’s episode of AEW Collision. They will have a promo segment, and it’s anyone’s guess what they will address.
It was reported on Haus of Wrestling that no one within AEW appeared to have prior knowledge of this news before it became public on Friday. This includes several prominent AEW roster members and top management figures.
It remains uncertain whether AEW President Tony Khan, CM Punk, or Wheeler’s tag team partner, Dax Harwood, were aware of the situation before Friday. While one source suggested that Khan was unaware, this has not been officially confirmed.
It was also noted that Cash Wheeler informed members of upper management on two separate occasions. Still, they appeared to be completely unaware of the developing situation.
Despite these developments, FTR’s AEW Tag Team Title defense against The Young Bucks, scheduled for later this month at All In, remains on track as Cash Wheeler did not surrender his passport. Since there are no international limitations to his arrest, All In London is still happening for FTR.
