A big strike is going on within Hollywood that might change the future of the entire entertainment business. That being said, a lot of projects are halted, and plans have changed for many. The Rock might also need to stay out of WWE while he’s at it.

Amidst the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, the landscape of professional wrestling remains largely unaffected. However, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz spoke to The Ringer Wrestling Show, where he explained his reservations, suggesting that such appearances could be perceived as inopportune given the ongoing strikes and the associated labor disputes within the entertainment industry.

Brian Gewirtz emphasized that although WWE is not directly affiliated with the guilds or SAG, the optics of prominent actors participating in entertainment programs during a strike are less than ideal. He points out the potential disconnect between appearing on television in an entertainment capacity and the ongoing labor concerns of the striking workers.

In the discussion, Brian Gewirtz specifically highlights Dwayne Johnson’s potential return to WWE television. While he cautions against immediate appearances, he maintains confidence that Johnson’s eventual return will likely intertwine with the ongoing saga surrounding The Bloodline, showcasing his enduring connection with the company.

“I would be shocked if The Rock appeared anytime soon while the strike is going on, but I would be equally, if not more shocked, if Rock never appeared in a WWE ring again, and figuring in [The Bloodline] storyline at some point, too. But everything needs to be crafted and discussed and thought about.”

During this period of strikes, it’s notable that Dwayne Johnson reportedly made a substantial seven-figure donation to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, aiming to provide financial support to those participating in the strikes and further emphasizing his involvement in the industry’s labor matters.

We will have to see if and when The Rock makes a return to WWE. After all, there are a few places he could wind up. Not only is the Bloodline saga still going strong, but Grayson Waller also called out The Great One on several occasions.
