WWE Hall of Famer Edge has seen the pro wrestling industry change in many ways throughout his career. Being such a big name, it is no surprise that many people take his opinion seriously. That said, it appears Edge confirmed his WWE contract will be over after this week’s Smackdown.

During last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Edge made his return to WWE television and talked about the 25th-anniversary celebration episode for this week’s show.

The Rated R Superstar then picked Sheamus as his opponent, as they never faced each other in a match before. Reports have suggested that Edge might retire for real after Smackdown this week.

While speaking to ET Canada, Edge was asked if this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown will be his last match ever. Edge simply claimed that after this week’s Smackdown, his WWE contract will be over as it will be the last match of his contract.

Here’s what I can honestly say, and this isn’t the answer everyone wants. I truly don’t know. I really really, with 100% truth can say I don’t know. That’s strange for me, but I don’t. I really don’t. I’ve put some thought into it, but not a lot. This is the last match on my current contract. I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. I probably won’t know until I get to the locker room that night and decompress, let all the anxiety and tension that I never used to have before I performed, I have now. That’s strange for me and makes it that much harder to do this. I’m going to be 50 in October. It’s not easy anymore. Before, what I used to take for granted to be able to do, now, there is a process and a fallout. There’s a lot. It’s the dream gig, but it’s getting really hard.

Edge last competed on the July 7th episode of Smackdown, where he defeated Grayson Waller. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether Edge will end up retiring after Smackdown this week.
