Dakota Kai was released back in May 2022 but came back during SummerSlam that year, where she returned as part of Damage CTRL alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky. While she won championship gold afterwards, things just didn’t go well for Kai. Kai also suffered an unfortunate ACL injury recently and it appears she will be out of action for a long time even now.

As seen during the SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Iyo Sky cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase on Bianca Belair and beat her to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. Dakota Kai also appeared after her win to celebrate.

Sky’s appearance was a very last-minute decision and she had to take hectic journey to make it for the show. Sky also appeared on Smackdown last week, where she joined the Damage CTRL and cheered on as Sky and Bayley beat up Charlotte Flair and Asuka. Even this was last-minute decision by WWE.

While speaking during a Twitch stream, Dakota Kai talked about her health after her Smackdown appearance. Kai made it clear that she is still many months away from getting medically learned for an in-ring return.

“There’s a misconception with me being on SmackDown. I’m not healed. You’ll probably notice that I’m not really involved with anything that requires ‘activity.’ Let’s put it that way. I still have just under six months to go before I’m actually cleared.”

We will have to wait and see what WWE will have planned for the Damage CTRL member as she is certainly determined to return to the ring as soon as possible.
