Chris Jericho is a veteran in the pro wrestling world who competed all over the world over the past three decades. He is also proud to be working in AEW and isn’t afraid to show it. Being a veteran in the business, he doesn’t really have much care about what his haters have to say. Now it appears Jericho revealed that AEW tried to license an AC/DC song for his feud with The Pinnacle.
For just over a year, Chris Jericho and MJF were engaged in a storyline. This dated back to MJF trying to join The Inner Circle all the way to their final match back in 2021.
His feud with MJF featured the Five Labors Of Jericho, which had Jericho compete in matches against the likes of Nick Gage among others. Things are different for both stars now.
After all, MJF is now the face of the company, becoming the AEW World Champion. While speaking on the AEW-some pod podcast, Chris Jericho talked about his feud with MJF.
This MJF and Jericho feud was 366 days, it went a year and a day,” Jericho reminded listeners. “It was a really cool story because we had Max and I becoming friends and then Max wanting to join the Inner Circle, and then him getting into the Inner Circle when he beat me in a match — and then he basically assembled his own faction.”
Chris Jericho recounted everything that led to The Pinnacle vs. The Inner Circle rivalry. While doing so, Jericho revealed that AEW tried to secure the rights to AC/DC’s song “Back in Black,” but had to settle for AC/DC’s “Are You Ready.” Jericho noted that he thought the song “was not as cool” but helped cement the rivalry between the two factions.
All of that is long gone now as Chris Jericho was betrayed by Don Callis on AEW Dynamite this week and will now be squaring off against Will Ospreay at AEW All In on August 27th. We’ll have to wait and see how the match will turn out.
What’s your opinion on this Chris Jericho story? Do you believe the AC/CD song would have elevated the feud? Let us know in the comments!
