AEW has a lot of things going on backstage, and CM Punk’s politics are certainly a big talking point. It seems his beef with Ryan Nemeth was spurred by a simple snubbing during a backstage tradition.

Ryan Nemeth was told to go home after making his way to AEW Collision. CM Punk apparently had big words that were quite aggressive with him backstage.

PW Insider also reported that Ryan Nemeth apparently did not say hello to CM Punk when they were at the hotel. This snub might have further irritated the Second City Savior.

In regard to the Ryan Nemeth situation, one AEW talent believed that him being sent home may have been precipitated by Nemeth walking around and saying hello to everyone at the hotel before the taping, but not stopping and saying hello to CM Punk and others Punk was with.

The talent noted that several weeks ago, Punk had held a locker room meeting about trying to keep the Collision locker room as drama free as possible and that with Nemeth having knocked Punk on Twitter around the time he returned to the ring in Chicago for the Collision premiere, that would fly in the face of that.

There is reportedly a ticking time-bomb in AEW, thanks to CM Punk, as backstage tension are bound to erupt. With so many big events coming up for the company, backstage problems is the last thing they need right now.

It was also noted that if The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Hangman Page didn’t re-sign with AEW, then they wouldn’t have this issue. The fact is that they did re-sign, so now Tony Khan has to navigate these waters as so many people seem to be mad at each other on his roster.

Tony Khan might be taking preemptive measures to make sure that CM Punk doesn’t have people around him who he thinks might be an issue. We will have to keep our eyes open for more in this situation, because there is likely to be a lot more to unpack by the time this situation is over.
