CM Punk decided that he wanted to take a shot at Hangman Page after AEW Collision this week. Then he proceeded to show more support for the SAG-AFTRA strike, but that is not the reason why he is in so much hot water with fans right now.
Reports of Ryan Nemeth getting sent home as soon as he arrived this week broke out. He wasn’t the only AEW star who was sent home with a believed connection with CM Punk.
PW Insider reports that, although CM Punk is starting heat, there is no planned match with Hangman Page. CM Punk simply reacted, and he said all of those things by himself.
In regard to the comments made by CM Punk about Hangman Page last night, AEW sources noted they absolutely were not designed to build to anything, since they weren’t made on TV and the segment wasn’t planned as something to be filmed for later usage – it was just an off the cuff segment meant to thank the audience and hype them up for the Ring of Honor taping.
Punk was responding to fans who were giving him static after the show, but then even Punk admitted he got “rocked” during the match and didn’t know where he was going with it. There are no current plans for a Punk-Hangman Page program.
Page apparently responded as he posted an Instagram Story with the song “My Kink is My Karma” noting the location was Greensboro, NC.
We will have to see if AEW ever books CM Punk in a program with The Elite, or any of the stable’s members. At this point, it’s not seemingly likely, but you also never know what can happen in pro wrestling.
The Elite and CM Punk are still not okay with each other, and that much is apparent. It’s also obvious that they could do a lot of business if the two sides ever agreed on a match of some kind.
