Bryan Danielson might have said goodbye to WWE a long time ago, but he knows all about the politics backstage in Vince McMahon’s company. It turns out that he and Sheamus actually upset a few top names in WWE because they took a house show match too seriously.

After the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, the spotlight has firmly shifted onto Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior is gearing up for a showdown against Edge, set to unfold on the upcoming episode of the blue brand in Toronto, Canada.

That upcoming match with Edge might be exciting, but Sheamus has experienced many battles in WWE, and some of them aren’t remembered so fondly. After all, there was once a time when his big match with Bryan Danielson was bumped from the WrestleMania main card.

In a recent conversation with Metro, Sheamus went into various subjects, including his thoughts on Bryan Danielson. The Celtic Warrior nostalgically recounted a remarkable bout he had with The American Dragon at a live event, a memorable encounter that preceded the buildup to WrestleMania 27.

“I remember one time we had a live event just before ‘Mania in Atlanta, this is before we found out we got bumped to that pre-show at WrestleMania 27. So I’m having this crazy physical match with D-Bry – me and him, just the chemistry we had and the different styles, the technical high flyer against the big brawler.”

“So you had guys going out afterwards – I’m not gonna tell you who they were, but top guys – and they’re pissed off with us because they had to follow that. They’re going out doing this tippy-tappy sh*t and we’re in there kicking the crap out of each other, marks all over us.”

Sheamus and Bryan Danielson’s paths had crossed before, notably in 2012 at WrestleMania 28, where they had a brief yet unforgettable 18-second match that etched itself into wrestling history. Notably, their meeting also took place at the grand stage of WrestleMania a year earlier, albeit being relegated to the pre-show, despite being for the prestigious WWE US title.

We will have to see what is in Sheamus’ future. After all, he still wants an IC Title run, so he can be an ultimate grand slam champion in WWE. Only time will tell if Sheamus accomplishes that, but it seems that Bryan Danielson did everything he wanted in WWE.
