Roderick Strong was one of the few remaining veterans in NXT from the days when the top stars all came from the independent ranks. Strong has a long history as an excellent in-ring performer and can always deliver a good match. He made his way to AEW earlier this year and now it appears Strong explained why he left WWE to join AEW.
Roderick Strong debuted on the April 26th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he came to the rescue of Adam Cole during the latter’s feud with Chris Jericho. Strong hasn’t been able to do much since his debut.
While speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Roderick Strong talked about the reason behind him leaving WWE and eventually joining AEW. Ultimately, it came down to him working in the same company as his wife and real-life best friends.
“I really wanted to be with my buddies and with my wife. AEW reminded me so much what I loved about Ring of Honor, the collective ‘everybody wants it to be better.’”
Roderick Strong is currently involved in MJF and Adam Cole’s tag team storyline and seems to have made his way back to The Kingdom after Cole’s actions on Dynamite this week. We’ll have to see how AEW will book their storyline in the coming weeks.
