Chris Jericho is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world as he has competed all over the world in various promotions, including WWE. Jericho is also never afraid to put his body through pain and suffering for the enjoyment of fans. This included his match with Nick Gage and now it appears Jericho suspected he was concussed after a dangerous spot with Nick Gage.

At AEW Fight For The Fallen 2021, Chris Jericho was pushed to his absolute limits as he faced off against Nick Gage in a No Rules match. To the surprise of no one, the deathmatch legend Nick Gage made sure the match was going to be an extremely brutal affair, full of glass panes, light tubes and pizza cutters.

In the end, Chris Jericho survived somehow and defeated Nick Gage. Many fans showered praise on Chris Jericho for doing such a match despite his age, as he had no reason to do it.

While speaking on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, Chris Jericho talked about his match with Nick Gage. Jericho revealed that he suspected he was concussed after being hit with a fluorescent light tube to the head.

“I remember we had just done a Dark Side of the Ring about him and I thought, wow, this guy’s very interesting. He’s got something. He is such a legit outlaw and Max suggested it. MJF suggested that we bring in Nick Gage to be this hardcore killer, so I decided to come out as The Painmaker, and man did we ever have a deathmatch for all deathmatches.”

I’ve never been hit before with a fluorescent light tube. When that got me, I don’t know what it was. It just smashed over my head but something dislodged in my head. I was really not feeling good afterwards. I remember I didn’t want to hang out with anybody. I didn’t want to do anything. I just wanted to kind of just go in my room and chill, but I didn’t want to go to sleep because I was scared I had a concussion. It’s probably my favorite deathmatch that I’ve ever had. I’ll probably never take a fluorescent light tube to the head again, and by the way, we made it safe. We took out the phosphorus and put baking powder in there.”

Jericho made it clear that he is finished with deathmatch wrestling for good as well. Regardless, Jericho doesn’t regret doing the match but will never do such a match ever again.
