Gunther is in the middle of a fantastic run in WWE. The Ring General continues to dominate the competition and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. Now it appears he doesn’t think a segment with the Honky Tonk man will benefit him.
The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it several times already. With each win, Gunther’s stock continues to rise and he becomes more and more dominating.
Gunther can match Honky Tonk Man’s long-standing record in September. Judging by how dominant he has been as the champion, it is all but confirmed that he will break the record.
While speaking with Metro UK, Gunther made it clear that he doubts a segment with the Honky Tonk man will benefit him.
No, I don’t think so. I think he had his time, he’s still got the record — it’s not broken, we will see what happens,” GUNTHER said. “I think I operate on a different level than him when it comes to what we do in the ring. I think my presentation’s very different, and also how I carry myself. I think it would just not be a good fit. I don’t think anybody would benefit from that.”
Gunther has already surpassed Randy Savage’s reign as Intercontinental Champion. We’ll have to wait and see if Gunther will end up making history this year.
