Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38 last year and wasted no time in making an impact after defeating Seth Rollins in his return match. Rhodes has been on a roll since his return and fans continue to love him no matter what. Now it appears Rhodes believed Brock Lesnar was going to attack him after WWE SummerSlam.

The American Nightmare immediately began feuding with Brock Lesnar after WrestleMania 39. They both had one win over each order and were set to battle it out in their trilogy match at SummerSlam.

During the SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Cody Rhodes squared off against Brock Lesnar in a solid match. Rhodes would win the match and Lesnar pulled him in for hug and showed him a lot of respect.

While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Rhodes talked about his match with Brock Lesnar and admitted that he believed Brock Lesnar was going to attack him after their match.

“As I saw him taking his gloves off, I sincerely thought he was going to start swinging. Then we went head-to-head, and it felt like we were a millisecond away from starting up again. So I didn’t anticipate that handshake coming. When I saw his hand, I was grateful. That’s not something he does. Again, this run has consistently surprised me. The torch isn’t passed. You have to take it.”

We will have to wait and see what WWE has planned for Cody Rhodes, now that he has toppled The Beast Incarnate. After all, WWE is clearly seeing great things in The American Nightmare.
