AEW fans saw RVD debut for the company as a big surprise challenger for Jungle Boy Jack Perry. They also heard his iconic theme song, Pantera’s “Walk” as well, but that was something that came together at the last minute.

Although it was reported prior to his AEW debut that the company is going to book RVD, they still kept him hidden backstage the best they could. After all, bringing a WWE Hall of Famer in like RVD is a big deal.

While talking to Premier Streaming Network, RVD mentioned that AEW put him in a trailer and tried to tuck him away in a room by himself, even using a wheelchair in the process.

RVD also revealed that AEW did not get permission to use Pantera’s “Walk” as his entrance until about an hour before he walked out to make his debut. That being said, RVD made his debut during the 8:30 PM block of Dynamite, so that should give you an even better timeframe. This was something that they cut down to the wire a little bit, but it all worked out in the end.

RVD did not note if AEW had any backup to “Walk” if they couldn’t nail down the rights. Tony Khan probably had other options, but that classic Pantera song is so well-known with RVD already, and he just had to have it.

Odds are AEW has the rights to play Walk a few more times, so only time will tell how often fans hear it. Hopefully, RVD’s match against Jack Perry won’t be his final outing in AEW.
