IYO Sky entered the WWE main roster at last year’s SummerSlam and became part of Damage CTRL. Almost a year since she has finally achieved a major thing on the main roster by winning the Money In The Bank Match. She then won the WWE Women’s Title on SummerSlam by cashing in her briefcase and now it appears Sky broke her silence regarding the matter.
As seen during the SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Asuka defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair. After a high-paced match, it was Belair who came out on top and won the match.
However, Iyo Sky immediately came out and cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase on Bianca Belair and beat her to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. In a tweet translated from Japanese, Iyo Sky commented on her victory and what it meant to her.
Wanting to become “the best in the world”, she threw away the “best in Japan” position she had at the time and flew to America.
I crossed the sea thinking that I was mentally and physically stronger than anyone else, but the wall in the world was so high that I was knocked down in an instant by such arrogance.I tried to say (or rather, said) “I can’t do it anymore”, but each time I remembered the faces of everyone who cheered me on and managed to endure it.
I cling desperately and build up little by little, and in a foreign land, I finally reached number one in the world today.
“Being number one in the world” was my dream, but it is definitely thanks to everyone that I was able to make it come true.
Everyone in Japan, everyone in America, everyone in the world, thank you so much.
We will have to wait and see how Iyo Sky will be booked as the WWE Women’s Champion, as fans simply want her to have a proper reign as the champion now.
