WWE’s SummerSlam event is going down in Detroit’s Ford Field on August 5th. However, there has been a recent change in the card, as Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch’s match has been moved. That led to a few stories about unrest in the women’s division.
Ringside News exclusively reported that the decision was made because WWE is experiencing tremendous success and financial gains from the Slim Jim Battle Royal match. The company is open for business, but they also didn’t want to limit the time of any matches for SummerSlam, because WWE is trying to produce shorter events.
It was later reported that “neither woman was thrilled with the adjustment, which came into focus in the days before their Raw match was set up.” This is obviously an ongoing situation, and now their match will take place in Winnipeg on RAW.
Ringside News reached out to inquire about how many people within the roster are actually upset about Becky Lynch and Trish Startus’ SummerSlam match getting moved off the card. We were told that this is not a widespread sentiment, so to say that the “locker room” is upset is an exaggeration.
In the end, any reports about people being upset about things are not 100% confirmed until the talent in question go on the record. A tenured member of the WWE creative team followed this up by saying that, “The media covering sports entertainment keeps showing its own disregard for accuracy.”
Becky Lynch is not in Detroit for SummerSlam, but she’s also not booked on the show. We will have to see what goes down on the RAW after SummerSlam, because they could have even more in store for The Man and Trish Stratus before they collide in Winnipeg.
