Wardlow Says He Is Depressed After Being Off AEW Television For Months

Wardlow didn’t take long to make an impact in AEW and became one of the most over stars in the company last year. He even held onto the TNT Championship for an extended duration before dropping it a couple of times. That said, now it appears Wardlow has admitted he has been depressed after being off AEW television for months.

While Wardlow was AEW’s hottest act last year, the company failed to capitalize on it during his first reign as the TNT Champion due to a series of improperly booked feuds and matches.

It did not help that Wardlow played hot potato with the TNT Championship in his feud with Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs. Wardlow last wrestled on the June 17 episode of AEW Collision, where he lost the TNT Championship to Luchasaurus.

While speaking at Terrificon 2023, Wardlow was asked whether he’ll be back on AEW Collision soon. The former TNT Champion admitted that he has been depressed because he has been off AEW television.

“It is very surreal for me to be sitting up here, and I think these two gentlemen [Danhausen and Ethan Page] would agree. I think we all have similar come-ups in the business. We’ve been grinding for years. We’ve probably dreamed and wished of getting moments like these our whole lives. So I’ve been off TV for almost a couple months, and I’ve been very depressed. Wrestling is my everything. It makes me happy. So today, I feel like me again for the first time in months. So I just want to say thank you guys for coming out because you guys really flip a switch in my mind and my heart that I needed, so thank you.”

It is not known when Wardlow will be making his return to AEW television and by the looks of it, that might not be happening anytime soon. Regardless, fans continue to miss Wardlow even now.
