Gunther’s incredible performance in NXT UK was simply just the beginning of his career in WWE. Following a decent run on NXT after that, Gunther was called up to the main roster and has since become a bonafide star there. He is the leader of Imperium and it appears Drew McIntyre has a very high opinion of them.
The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it several times already. With each win, Gunther’s stock continues to rise and he becomes more and more dominating.
Alongside Ludwig Kaiser and Vinci, Gunther strikes fear into the hearts of his foes as the leader of Imperium. The faction continues to reign over WWE and fans do wonder if more members will be added to the group.
While speaking on Under The Ring podcast, Drew McIntyre talked about his feud with Gunther and stated that he believes Imperium are an important act in Vince McMahon’s company right now.
To watch his evolution, he was great outside of the company in Independent’s, he was great in NXT UK. His matches have always been phenomenal, he’s always had that hard hit and believable style, but also to see his transformation body wise, and the Imperium come together and see their chemistry together, as an act it truly works in WWE to the point where all the superstars have came back, and been brought in over the past couple of years, I put them right at the top and they are such an important act on the show.
Drew McIntyre will be challenging Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event. We’ll have to wait and see if he will be able to defeat The Ring General in the end.
