CM Punk showed up in AEW after his big return, and he had a little bag with him. Everyone knew that he had a title belt in that bag, and we all suspected which one it was. Then he left no room to wonder when he revealed his AEW World Title that he never lost. It seems AEW doesn’t recognize that title at all, which is quite interesting.

Although CM Punk is set to defend his “Real” World Championship against Ricky Starks very soon, AEW hasn’t broken down and added the Second City Savior to their roster sheet as champion.
CM Punk is listed on AEW’s roster page, but he is not included as the “Real” World Champion. Only time will tell if they make that alteration, but it looks like they are not really committing to the angle.
AEW is featuring CM Punk with that title belt that he painted with an X. He proclaimed that he will remain World Champion until someone takes the belt from him. Only time will tell if Ricky Starks has what it takes to snatch the belt from CM Punk.
This booking for CM Punk has received a considerable amount of attention, and plenty of memes were made of him holding that title belt. Now, we will have to se what direction they go with things, because anything is possible at this point.
Punk is a two-time AEW World Champion, and if you ask him, that second reign never ended. He was World Champion, freshly defeating Jon Moxley for the title, when he delivered that scathing media scrum performance that caused Brawl Out.
