Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s careers have been intertwined for more than a decade now, which goes back to their days in ROH and PWG together. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens challenged The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 39. It was truly an emotional bout from start to finish. In the end, Owens and Zayn won the match and became the new champions.
After winning the titles, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have defended them valiantly, as they have been putting on solid matches consistently. Fans have been very happy with how they have been booked as Champions as well.
While speaking in an interview with Xfinity, Sami Zayn talked about how he and Kevin Owens cater towards a certain type of fans and explained the significance of it.
“We have a little expression, actually when we do shows in different towns and they’re kind of close, there’s a certain fan that we cater towards called little Kevin, which is basically when he [Owens] was a fan, but there might be 100 or 200 little Kevins out there, and we kind of are very mindful of them.
They might have seen the act before, they might have seen what we do, so we got to keep them on the edge of their seats and we got to keep them on their toes.
So I think having that approach, while may be a little much, that sometimes may be a little much for some people, I think it’s been the key to keeping our story fresh for 20 years now.”
We will have to wait and see how Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will continue to be booked in the coming weeks. After all, fans feel they are currently doing great as the tag team champions.
