Gunther is in the middle of a fantastic run in WWE. The Ring General continues to dominate the competition and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. That said, it appears his plans after WWE SummerSlam have been revealed.
The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it several times already. With each win, Gunther’s stock continues to rise and he becomes more and more dominating.
On the July 31 episode of WWE Raw, Gunther challenged Chad Gable to last five minutes in the ring with him. Gable managed to withstand it all and lasted five minutes. Gunther demanded more time, so the match continued.
Gunther won in the end despite Gable’s best efforts. While speaking on Raw Talk, Gable commented on his match against Gunther and stated that he will become after Gunther soon.
Does this look like victory to you? [Points to his chest] No. This was a five-star chest, okay, and he turned it into mincemeat in a matter of five minutes. Well, Gunther. Get yourself ready. Because on the other side of SummerSlam, Master Gable’s turning the coaching techniques on himself. Take care of your business. I’ll be waiting for you, and you’re paying for this chest, this five-star chest, and you’re paying for it with a lot more than five minutes. Because I’ll go five hours any day of the week, baby. Get yourself ready.
Gunther can match Honky Tonk Man’s long-standing record in September. Judging by how dominant he has been as the champion, it is all but confirmed that he will break the record. We’ll have to see how his feud with Gable will turn out.
What’s your take on what Gable said? Is Gunther the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time already? Sound off in the comments!
