Seth Rollins is still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion as the company rolls into SummerSlam this weekend. He has a match against Finn Balor that could tear the house down in Detroit’s Ford Fiend, but running at full steam is nothing new for Seth Rollins.
Ever since capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions on May 27th, Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins has taken pride in defending his title at every opportunity possible. He is certainly a fighting champion, locking up in the ring far more often than his former Shield brother, Roman Reigns.
The Visionary has gone the extra mile, defending his championship on various platforms, including Raw, NXT, premium live events, and even non-televised house shows. That relentless commitment to being a “fighting champion” appears to be taking a toll on Rollins’ health. After a recent live event in Miami, Florida, Rollins spoke candidly to the audience about the challenges he’s facing.
During a post-match promo at a recent Miami house show, Seth Rollins admitted, “Being a fighting champion is starting to wear me down.”
A clearly irritated Seth Rollins then went on to call out a fan in attendance who called him a “fake ass champion.” No matter what that fan’s opinion was, the 37-year-old then declared that the fans deserve a champion such as himself – one who “sweats buckets” and “bleeds his own blood.”
We will have to see what Seth Rollins does next as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. At this stage in his career, he seems to be moving at a rapid pace, and at an incredibly high level. Only time will tell how long he can keep going that hard before something gives.
