WWE signed Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson to a deal years ago, and they’re just starting to use him on television. That being said, a guy like Steveson is in high demand elsewhere.

Gable Steveson showed up in NXT several weeks ago, as he helped Eddy Thorpe train for a RAW Underground match against Steveson’s own broker, Damon Kemp. This week on NXT, Gable Steveson put all the speculation to rest about what his next move is.

Gable Steveson then followed everything up by making a big decision about his future on WWE NXT. It seems that he is going to follow his path in WWE, but that might not be the case.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Gable Steveson doesn’t even know what he’s going to do next. At this point, he has options, and things seem to be up in the air still, including another Olympic run.

The World Championships is in September, and Gable Steveson doesn’t even know if he’s going. WWE doesn’t know if he’s going, and I know this because people have talked to him and it’s up in the air.

It was noted that it is WWE’s call, because he is under contract with them. At this time, a decision has not been made, but at least, Gable Steveson has his first NXT match booked. It was also noted that “clearly” WWE doesn’t want Steveson to do it, because they didn’t promote the fact that he just won Nationals and Final X this year. After all, Gable Steveson might be more valuable to WWE as an Olympic Gold Medalist in 2020, instead of a “bronze medalist in 2024.”

Gable Steveson entered WWE with attention on him that few fresh Superstars receive. As an Olympic Gold Medalist, he commands a certain amount of respect as well. He could also decided to finish out his amateur wrestling dreams, but it might be WWE’s call at this point.

WWE NXT Great American Bash on July 30th will see Gable Steveson lock up in a WWE ring for the first time. He will take on Baron Corbin in that match, and we’ll have to see what his WWE career does from that point on.
