SummerSlam is slated to take over Detroit’s Ford Field on August 5th, 2023, and the show just got bigger. A few matches have been teased, or even challenged, but they aren’t official until WWE books them, and now we know one more match that is certain to light up the card.
Rhea Ripley is going strong as Women’s World Champion, as she appears on pretty much every WWE brand’s show at the same time. The Nightmare won’t take SummerSlam off though.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Rhea Ripley is still slated to wrestle at the biggest party of the summer. Right now, they are still letting the story play out, but she is set to defend that title against Raquel Rodriguez.
The only match not announced is Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez for the World women’s title. We were told that as of last word, it was still on the show, although they are doing a knee injury angle with Rodriguez.
Raquel Rodriguez just lost a tag team partner with Liv Morgan going out with an injury. Only time will tell how they wrap things around for this match, but it is very much expected.
