Injuries can happen when you least expect them, especially in WWE. The company wrote an angle on RAW this week that could open the door for a very long stretch without the former Riott Squad member around.

Liv Morgan was written off WWE television this week as Rhea Ripley beat her down. This was a brutal attack, and Morgan sold it with incredible pain in her face as she clutched her shoulder.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that WWE wrote the possibility for a long absence into that angle with Liv Morgan. At this time, it’s unclear if she will need surgery, so that brutal beat down angle was placed just in case she needed extra time for a longer hiatus.

The Morgan injury came across more serious as Ripley attacked Morgan before their scheduled match and Pillmanized her shoulder twice and they showed Morgan crying in pain in a later segment as well. There is no time frame how long she will be out but if she does need surgery it would be lengthy and the angle was done to prepare for that possibility. It appears that’s the reason they did the tag title change since it was her last match and they had started doing the thing where Morgan kept telling Ripley she wasn’t afraid of Ripley. Before the Atlanta title change she hadn’t wrestled since the title win at Money in the Bank.

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez are no longer WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, but Raquel might still get big SummerSlam match, even while Morgan is out of action.

Only time will tell how long Liv Morgan will be out of action. It is reported that she actually injured the other shoulder from the one that Rhea Ripley focused on during that attack on RAW. That being said, we can only hope that surgery is not mandatory.
