AEW has a few big events on the horizon, but they haven’t booked any matches for their massive Wembley Stadium show just yet. That being said, one title match is certainly on the table for All In London.
Jade Cargill was an unstoppable force as TBS Champion. It took her wrestling twice in the same night, but she still lost that title to Kris Statlander. Now, Statlander is going strong as champion after her alien gimmick seemingly vanished.
In a new development, ROH Women’s Champion Athena has issued a direct challenge to Kris Statlander in anticipation of the AEW All In At Wembley Stadium pay-per-view event. That match could pop the UK fans in a big way, but the event is already practically a sell-out as it is without any matches announced.
In an interview with WrestlingNews, Athena expressed her desire to face Statlander at All In on August 27. With fierce determination, she stated her intention to break Statlander’s face and triumphantly carry the TBS Championship back with her from London, England. The clash between these talented wrestlers promises to be an intense showdown that fans won’t want to miss.
“That’s a match that I’ve wanted for a while.
“Even watching from home before I got signed to AEW/ROH, Statlander is that woman. She’s more than a woman.
“Someone that was my sister from another mister when I first got here. I love Kris Statlander, and I would love to break her face and steal her TBS Championship.”
Kris Statlander and Athena haven’t collided in AEW yet. Statlander’s long injury hiatus had a lot to do with that, but Athena also made ROH her stomping grounds as well.
We will have to see what AEW books for their All In London event on August 27th. With All Out coming up a week after that, Tony Khan’s company could leave plenty of openings to carry out at their next event as well.
What’s your take on Kris Statlander’s reign as TBS Champion? Is she going to hold the title until Jade Cargill can come back and take it? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you’re thinking!
