Gunther had an awe-inspiring run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE by holding the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He is now a constant fixture on WWE television and fans love to see him. Gunther is utterly dominant as the Intercontinental Champion and it appears he has no interest in becoming a Paul Heyman guy.
The Ring General won the WWE Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 and has since defended it several times already. Gunther’s sheer dominance as the champion has impressed many in a big way.
The leader of Imperium is doing well, but some also wonder whether he would ever work with Paul Heyman. While speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Riju Dasgupta, the leader of Imperium made it clear he has no interest in becoming a Paul Heyman guy.
“Right now, I’m good for how it is. He’s one of the biggest personalities in wrestling. Everybody knows how he is and knows who he is. Obviously, there is a lot of knowledge. I’ve spoken to him a few times and the advice he can give and experiences he can share are precious to hear.
But, when it comes to what I do out there, I’ve always been the best when I’m in charge of myself. I’ve got the back up of Gio and Ludwig, which is worth a lot, but at the end of the day, it’s always been myself making the big decisions for myself and I don’t think I need anyone in the future to help me to make those decisions.”
Drew McIntyre made his return during the Money In The Bank Premium Live Event and confronted Gunther before laying him out. They will now battle it out at the WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event. We’ll have to wait and see how WWE will book their feud in the coming weeks.
