LA Knight might have exploded in popularity within the WWE fan base, but the company has seen this kind of thing before. They also know that good things take time, and LA Knight is certainly someone they want to make plans for. That being said, they are apparently in no real rush.

LA Knight did not win the fatal four-way match on SmackDown to advance in the United States Title tournament. Many fans thought this was a shocking decision, as now two members of the LWO, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio, comprise the finals.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer made it clear that LA Knight is not getting buried by a long shot. The company just wants to take their time getting him to where he needs to go.

They’re not burying LA Knight, they’re just taking their time.

It was also noted that “they are very much in control of this one,” because if they didn’t see something in LA Knight, then he wouldn’t get special promo time. WWE realizes that they have something with LA Knight, and they will push him. “They’re producing him as if he is a star, they’re putting him in a position to be a star,” but he just hasn’t had his big win yet.

WWE could have big plans for LA Knight after SummerSlam. Only time will tell what the future holds for the former Eli Drake, but things are going much better for him than when he was Max Dupri as well.

LA Knight is also moving merchandise, and that is something the company certainly pays attention to. That being said, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that WWE has plans to keep cashing in for as long as they can.
