WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart’s contributions to the pro wrestling industry cannot be understated. He has helped shape the careers of generations of pro wrestlers after him. That being said, it appears AEW turned down Bret Hart’s offer to be an agent.
Last year, AEW teased the arrival of Bret Hart on Dynamite and Rampage. This further strengthened after Bret Hart was revealed to be managing FTR during an event.
The Excellence Of Execution had only signed a merchandise deal with WWE. In fact, Bret Hart then himself stated that he is simply happy being at home for the time being in response to the AEW rumors.
As previously reported, Orange Cassidy is now working as a backstage producer/agent for AEW. Writer Brian R. Solomon who contributes to Inside The Ropes Magazine, took to Twitter and revealed that Bret Hart pitched to AEW to work as an agent. However, AEW would turn him down for some reason.
“I’m actually a big fan of Orange Cassidy and his work. But in a company that has Arn Anderson, Jake Roberts, Tazz, Billy Gunn, Christian Cage, Chris Jericho, Dustin Rhodes and Sting in the locker room, shouldn’t they be the ones being tapped to be road agents?
When I recently interviewed Bret Hart for my book, he told me that he offered to agent for them, but they only wanted to bring him in as a manager like Tully, Arn, Jake, etc. Imagine having the ability to have Bret Hart coach your talent and saying, no just be a TV character.”
Bret Hart made it clear he wasn’t coming to AEW anytime soon and now it makes more sense why he said that. Regardless, many fans feel this was a bad call on AEW’s part and it isn’t known whether Hart will ever work in Tony Khan’s company again.
What’s your view on this shocking revelation? Why do you think AEW would do such a thing? Let us know in the comments!
