WWE Hall of Famer ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin remains one of the biggest and most influential names in pro wrestling history. After all, he single-handedly ushered in the Attitude Era and changed the course of pro wrestling for good. That said, it appears Brian Pillman Jr. wants to retire Steve Austin at WrestleMania.
We previously reported that Brian Pillman Jr. was removed from the AEW roster page. Naturally, this made many fans fear the worst as they believed he was gone from the company.
That is exactly what happened as Brian Pillman Jr. contract with AEW expired earlier last week. Brian Pillman Jr. was also recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center, which made fans wonder if he will join WWE.
While speaking at a Captain’s Corner virtual signing, Brian Pillman Jr. was asked about having a match at WrestleMania. The former AEW star made it clear that he wants to retire Steve Austin at WrestleMania.
“I gotta retire Steve Austin. If anybody’s gonna do it, it’s gonna be his best friend’s son, you know? His long-time friend’s son. So I think that should be a moment for me and who knows? Maybe bring out the Varsity Blonds vest for that match.
I mean, obviously, let’s be real, I’d have to face Stone Cold Steve Austin [if I could have a match at WrestleMania in the future]. I can’t just let what’s-his-name beat me on that. Kevin Steen, I can’t let Kevin Steen — sorry for not remembering his name [Pillman Jr. laughed]. I’m actually a pretty big fan of his. So I can’t let him one-up me there.”
Brian Pillman Jr’s WWE deal is already in place. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether he will get his wish and retire the Texas Rattlesnake at WrestleMania somewhere down the line.
