Fans were eagerly waiting for CM Punk’s return on the debut episode of Collision, as it marked the first time he appeared on AEW television since All Out last year. CM Punk has been a regular in-ring competitor and his match quality has been very solid so far. That said, it appears AEW was criticized for not properly booking CM Punk after his return.

The Second City Saint has been a staple of AEW Collision since the debut episode and he is clearly happy to be back in the fold. He has largely competed in tag team matches and was also part of the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

That said, AEW Collision has not managed to become the ratings juggernaut fans hoped for. In fact, Collision is getting similar ratings to AEW Rampage. While speaking on the K100 podcast, Disco Inferno criticize AEW for not properly booking CM Punk after his return to the company.

“If Punk wasn’t going to come back and do the angle with [The] Elite, I thought it would fall flat… [Collision] is doing Rampage numbers, nobody cares… The show is basically Rampage. It’s easy to miss, nothing is going on… You can’t target a more specific market than doing Punk versus [Samoa] Joe, which is for Ring of Honor fans from 20 years ago. Who would be interested in that right now?”

CM Punk lost to Ricky Starks in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup Tournament last week on AEW Collision. We will have to wait and see what AEW will have planned for The Second City Saint next.
