Saraya has a lot going for her in AEW, but it’s anyone’s guess how successful she would be if Tony Khan’s original plan to present her as a babyface stuck.

At this point in her AEW career, Saraya is enjoying quite a run as leader of the Outcasts. The former WWE Superstar has a lot of fans watching her every move as well, and they are eating up her heel antics along the way.

The first-ever NXT Women’s Champion wanted to be a heel when she debuted with AEW. After all, that is a role she fits in best. As she spoke to Inside The Ropes, she explained how it took a conversation with Tony Khan to really move along her heel turn.

“I wanted to be a heel straight out the gate, and they told me I had to be a babyface. When I walked out, the first time I walked out, and I was like ‘I understand, but I just flourish better as a heel’.

“If I have to get comfortable I’d rather be a heel first because it’s easy to get people to hate you than like you, and so that I can just get in my stride and not be so offended if people are talking sh*t about me.

“So I’m like, ‘Hey, I’m just doing my job.’ You know what I mean? I spoke to Tony about it. And then he was like, ‘I have an idea. Just get yours and Britt’s match out the way, and then we’ll have the (talk), I’ll tell you my idea.’”

“And then he was like, ‘I want you and Toni to be together. Just at first you wanted to protect me and stuff like that a little bit, which I appreciated.

“So I’m just being heel and having fun with it. Finally, and again, people are getting mad about it. But we’re we’re having a good time.

“So no one can piss us off at this point. We’re having a great time, probably the most fun I’ve ever had.”

Tony Khan eventually relented and allowed Saraya to make that heel turn that she was looking for. It was off to the races after that. Only time will tell how long it takes for Saraya to make a turn back to the babyface realm, but it doesn’t appear that she is going to rush that idea.

Saraya makes a pretty good heel, and she is quite proud of everything the Outcasts have done so far. Do you think that she has an AEW Women’s Championship run in her future? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you’re thinking!
