Brian Pillman Jr. had worked hard to establish himself as one of the mainstays of AEW’s tag team division alongside Griff Garrison. The Varsity Blondes eventually split up and went their separate ways. As it turned out, Pillman Jr. recently parted ways with AEW after his contract expired. That said, it appears he won’t join WWE anytime soon.
We previously reported that Brian Pillman Jr. was removed from the AEW roster page. Naturally, this made many fans fear the worst as they believed he was gone from the company.
That is exactly what happened as Brian Pillman Jr. contract with AEW expired earlier last week. Naturally, fans wondered what would become of the former AEW star as he is talented in many ways.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that there is no hiring freeze going on in WWE. Instead, WWE is limiting who they hire until after the WWE-UFC merger. That is why WWE won’t hire Brian Pillman Jr. anytime soon.
“Someone in WWE noted to us about Brian Pillman Jr., who AEW didn’t renew the contract of and his training at the Performance Center, and that while not impossible, it would be less likely he’d be hired right now until after the merger is complete.”
Brian Pillman Jr. was also recently spotted at the WWE Performance Center. We will have to wait and see when Brian Pillman Jr. will end up joining WWE, as it might be what he needs.
