Baron Corbin has been part of WWE for ten years now, and he made the most out of any role that was given to him. In fact, Corbin has gone through various changes over the years and remains relevant even now. That said, it appears his ‘Sad Corbin’ gimmick was supposed to last for only two weeks.

Corbin’s gimmick was eventually changed to Happy Corbin and has been one of the most hated heels in WWE. He then took a hiatus from WWE television and came back as Baron Corbin, this time alongside JBL.

Prior to all this, Corbin was known as ‘Bum ass Corbin’ who had the worst luck in the world. Corbin’s character actually managed to garner a lot of sympathy from the WWE Universe.

However, JBL abandoned Baron Corbin on RAW, and the WWE Hall of Famer will not be returning to WWE television anytime soon. In fact, Triple H abandoned the Corbin storyline altogether.

While speaking on After The Bell, Baron Corbin revealed that Sad Corbin was only supposed to last for two weeks but plans changed after WWE saw just how well fans reacted to it.

“How do I make it stand out? How do I make it amazing? How do I take this and turn it into gold? I think Sad Corbin is the prime example of that. When Vince tasked me with that, I saw it as an opportunity to change, show character work, and just to add another level to my body of work. It was only supposed to be like a two week thing and it ended up running for months because I went all in.

Baron Corbin was also a free agent after the WWE Draft and fans wondered what would become of him. Corbin then made his shocking return to NXT in May. Corbin is now a full-time NXT Superstar and he is fully focused on becoming a better WWE Superstar in the developmental brand. We’ll have to wait and see what’s next in store for Corbin.

What’s your take on this story? Do you think WWE should turn him back into ‘Sad Corbin?’ Sound off in the comments!
