AEW has a few traditions that they break out every year. Fans just saw the return of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, and that isn’t all. Now, we will get to see another tradition carried on this year.
AEW loves Chicago, and there are many reasons for that. Not only is Tony Khan from the area, but their fans also love pro wrestling. That being said, they’ve received a lot of interest from the company in recent years.
Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that the tradition isn’t stopping any time soon for AEW’s Thanksgiving Chicago shows.
Fightful Select has learned that as of today, All Elite Wrestling was to continue their tradition of running Chicago during Thanksgiving week. The company has went there in both 2021 and 2022, and will be there for this year’s show.
That week will be a particularly interesting one, as AEW Dynamite is slated for Chicago on November 22. Just a few days later, WWE will be running Survivor Series at the Allstate Arena on Saturday, with Smackdown happening the day prior.
AEW has a ton of fans in Chicago, but some might argue that they are wearing out the market. Only time will tell how AEW’s shows around Thanksgiving turn out, but we will certainly keep a close eye on the situation.
Do you think that AEW fans in Chicago get too many big shows? Should they share the love with other cities? Sound off in the comments to let us know what you’re thinking!
