Sami Zayn has been working in WWE for a decade now and when it comes to perfecting storylines – he truly has the Midas touch. This couldn’t have been more apparent than his storyline with The Bloodline. It appears WWE knew Zayn wouldn’t last as a top guy in the company.

The Survivor Series WarGames match helped prove Sami Zayn’s loyalty to The Bloodline. However, that all changed after Zayn ended up betraying Roman Reigns and The Bloodline at the Royal Rumble.

Sami Zayn challenged Roman Reigns for his titles at Elimination Chamber and ended up losing. However, he never got to main event WrestleMania 39 with Roman Reigns. This came as a major disappointment for many fans.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that Vince McMahon’s company never really saw Sami Zayn as a top guy and believed he got over as a fluke. Even when he did reach the top guy level, WWE knew it wouldn’t last.

”They always saw Zayn as just a guy, who got over as a fluke and they didn’t see him as having potential past a certain level, and when he got there, they “knew” it wouldn’t last.”

Sami Zayn was confident he was going to headline WrestleMania 39 with Roman Reigns, but that wasn’t the plan. Regardless, he is one half of the Undisputed Tag Team Champions and that’s all that matters.
