Fans were eagerly waiting for CM Punk’s return on the debut episode of Collision, as it marked the first time he appeared on AEW television since All Out last year. CM Punk has been a regular in-ring competitor and his match quality has been very solid so far. He failed to win the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament but had a very wholesome moment after AEW Collision went off the air.

The Second City Saint has been a staple of AEW Collision since the debut episode and he is clearly happy to be back in the fold. He also faced off against Samoa Joe in the semi-finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament on last week’s episode of AEW Collision and managed to win.

CM Punk then squared off against Ricky Starks in the finals of the tournament on this week’s episode of AEW Collision. However, he lost to Starks after Starks used somewhat underhanded tactics to secure the win.

One of the most notable things about the match was that Chris Benoit’s son David Benoit was present ringside for the match. After the show went off the air, CM Punk shared a touching moment with Benoit and exchanged a few words.

We will have to wait and see what AEW will have planned for CM Punk, now that he ended up losing in such a shocking manner. Perhaps this will sow the seeds for his eventual heel turn in the future.
