A surprise announcement has sent wrestling fans into a frenzy as Japanese wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Jushin Thunder Liger has revealed his upcoming appearance at AEW Collision.

Although not yet officially announced by AEW, Liger took to Twitter to inform fans that he will be participating in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals in Calgary, Canada.

“I am at Haneda Airport now. From now on, I will go to Calgary, Canada via San Francisco. I was invited as a guest at Owen Hart’s memorial tournament. I’m looking forward to Calgary after a long time.”

This revelation aligns with AEW President Tony Khan’s previous statement expressing his desire to have Liger present. While the capacity of Liger’s involvement remains unclear, his presence holds significant meaning as he shares a history with Hart dating back to their time in NJPW in the early 1990s.

The men’s tournament final will feature an exciting clash between CM Punk and Ricky Starks, while the women’s final will see 2022 finalist Ruby Soho go up against the winner of the Athena vs. Willow Nightingale match, airing on Friday’s episode of Rampage (July 14).

Additionally, the AEW Tag Team Titles will be on the line in a two-out-of-three-falls match as FTR defends against Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson.

With recent news of AEW implementing various restrictions on talent through a banned moves list, fans are curious to see how these changes will impact the in-ring action during Collision. The anticipation for the event continues to build, especially with the unexpected addition of Jushin Thunder Liger to the already stacked lineup.
