Pro wrestlers can pick up a lot of stories and experiences during their time in the business. Matt Hardy has obviously seen enough that he can fill podcasts, and even books, with his knowledge. He can also speak about things that could have been, but he turned them down along the way.

Matt Hardy recently revealed that prior to his departure from WWE, he had the opportunity to join NXT. He further expressed that if Triple H had been in charge of creative at that time, he might have chosen not to leave WWE at all.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Matt Hardy discussed his exit from WWE in 2020. He candidly admitted that before making the leap to All Elite Wrestling, Triple H had offered him the chance to showcase his ‘Broken’ persona within NXT.

“I love this. You know me doing this, I feel like a little kid in a candy store, because pro wrestling is what I always wanted to do, and for the last few years that I can physically do it I want to do it to the best of my ability.”

“So that opportunity opened up at AEW to be able to do it, and also Triple H gave me a very generous offer to wrestle in NXT and do some my Broken Matt. Maybe give me a little bit of a stable, and then still be able to supplement that by being a backstage producer with WWE.”

Triple H changed a lot as Chief Content Officer for WWE. He also had to give a bit of that power back to Vince McMahon, because the Chairman returned to the company and can switch up things however he sees fit.

Only time will tell if Matt Hardy ever finds his way back to WWE. A Performance Center coaching gig might be a perfect spot for him eventually. If anything, you know that Matt Hardy will likely be watching from afar.
