WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus is considered one of the most iconic popular female WWE Superstars in the company’s history. Her contributions to the industry cannot ever be understated. It appears WWE talent were furious when Trish Stratus and Lita main evented RAW back in 2004.
Prior to Trish Stratus and Lita tearing it up in the ring and redefining what it meant to be a female performer in WWE back in the day, female WWE talents were seen as mere eye candy. Despite that, Stratus paved the way for future female talents as well.
Stratus and Lita’s iconic rivalry and friendship continue to be talked about to this day. They competed in the main event of the December 6, 2004 episode of Monday Night RAW and changed the game in numerous ways.
While speaking on Grilling JR, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recalled the reception to Trish Stratus and Lita competing in the main event of Monday Night RAW back in 2004. He claimed that quite a few WWE talent were furious with this.
“They were the first females to main event Raw, which I thought was great,” Ross continued. “That’s a lot bigger deal — even today — than people give it credit for.
Ross revealed there were “many pissed-off wrestlers with testicles” who were fuming in the backstage area when they found out that two women were going to main event WWE’s flagship show.
What the hell is going on here?” Ross recalled a reaction from an unnamed wrestler. “They [Lita and Stratus] deserved the opportunity, and they delivered.”
Trish Stratus and Lita both had legendary careers and were inducted WWE Hall Of Fame in back-to-back years. Stratus was inducted in the Class of 2013 while Lita was inducted in the Class of 2014. We’ll have to see if they will cross paths, especially after Stratus turned on her earlier this year.
