Former WWE wrestler Mario Mancini recently shared a story about his former colleague Iron Mike Sharpe and a heartbreaking incident involving Sharpe’s girlfriend. Mancini, who wrestled for WWE from 1984 to 1992, recounted the incident during an appearance on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast.
According to Mancini, one day he received a call from Sharpe, who was clearly devastated. Sharpe informed Mancini that his girlfriend had disappeared without any explanation and had also stolen everything from his apartment while he was away on the road.
“He goes, ‘Mario…’ I go, ‘Yeah, Mike, what’s up?’ He goes, ‘You know where Willa is?’ I said, ‘No, why? Can’t find her?’ He goes, ‘I came home, my apartment’s wiped out, she took everything.’ While he was on the road, wiped him out, and I felt so bad for him because he’s such a nice guy.”
Iron Mike Sharpe, a second-generation wrestler, had a long career with WWE from 1980 to 1995. He competed in over 800 matches and notably had several unsuccessful challenges against Bob Backlund for the world title in 1983.
The incident shared by Mario Mancini sheds light on the personal struggles and challenges that professional wrestlers may face behind the scenes.
