AEW booked their next Blood & Guts match as they take over Boston’s TD Garden for their first show in the famous Beantown venue. That being said, CM Punk had his eye on that big match.
The Blackpool Combat Club will take on The Elite in the Blood & Guts match. Bryan Danielson will miss the match due to injury, but CM Punk was game to get involved.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that CM Punk expressed interest in getting into the Blood & Guts match. He offered his services, but the problem was that neither team really wanted him.
Fightful Select sources confirmed Voices Of Wrestling’s report that Punk pitched himself as the 5th member of the Blackpool Combat Club’s team. Whether seriously or not, or whether he actually expected the offer to be accepted isn’t known. He has expressed his desire to work with Elite in the past, but said that he’s been told it wasn’t happening.
“Neither team would want him” one source said. When we asked about issues with BCC’s Jon Moxley, we were told that Moxley wasn’t opposed to the idea. However, as of two weeks before the show, the partners were already determined.
AEW has a lot of plans in the pipeline, and some of them include CM Punk. That being said, the company apparently couldn’t find a spot for the Second City Savior in that match.
We will have to see how AEW’s next Blood & Guts match pans out. Obviously, that match will draw a lot of attention in Boston on July 19th. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more updates.
