Goldberg’s final match is happening, and the event is getting booked in Israel. Sting has also signed on to appear at the show, but Brey Hart isn’t on the card yet. If Teddy Long has his say about things, that could change.
Goldberg’s final opponent has not been announced yet. That being said, there is a huge question surrounding who will face him. Although there are some nice options, including Ryback, Teddy Long wants to see Goldberg squash an old beef in his final match.
While speaking on the Wrestle Binge, Teddy Long pitched that a match with Goldberg and Bret Hart just makes sense. After all, they have a lot more history beyond that infamous kick that caused a concussion for the Hitman.
“Only thing I can say about Bill Goldberg is he’s just an outstanding guy. I mean, just as nice as anybody could ever be. And I’ll always remember one time me and him were on a signing together. And he had this long line man at his table. And he saw me, and he got up and he left that line and came just to speak to me and hug me. Much respect for Bill Goldberg. And, you know, like I said, there’s still money in him, I still believe in him. It’s just that what are you going to do with him? If you’re going to use him right, then you’ll get the money out of him.”
“Bill is a guy that’s been around this business a long time. He listened, he learned a lot from Bret Hart by working with him for a while. So I think you know, if they could come up with something for Bill in AEW, I mean, I don’t know what he’s under contract to WWE or not. But I mean, you know, everybody’s got a price man. So I think if they offer Bill the right money, he may make an appearance. I mean, what does he got to lose? Why not?”
This match would have a ton of history behind it, because Goldberg ended Bret Hart’s career with that legendary kick that caused a concussion. Hart still blames Goldberg for that kick to this day, so the match could write itself.
Only time will tell who Goldberg faces in his final match, but it’s not likely to be Bret Hart. The Hitman suffered a stroke several years ago, and he has since moved on to podcasting and other ventures.
